Famed American artist N.C. Wyeth was often accompanied by his grandson Newell as he did his morning errands. On October 19th, 1945, Wyeth’s car was struck by an oncoming train at a railway crossing near his home in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Both three-year-old Newell and his grandfather died in the accident.
